The Traditional Architecture Group (TAG) is a small friendly group whose aim is to record historic buildings in the local styles and materials of Northumberland, Durham, and Tyne & Wear. We meet in Newcastle.
Since its formation in 1987 the group has studied a mixture of building types. The emphasis has been on buildings which are at risk of decay or redevelopment, although not exclusively so.
TAG members make a site survey of each building, with measured drawings and photographs, and research the history from written and visual records, as well as interviewing local people. So far, we have published six volumes of reports with the title Northumbrian Building Studies.
We welcome new recruits to take part in any or all aspects of our work – no previous experience is necessary. There is no membership fee and no formality to joining. Please email us via the Links page.
